Holiday Hair Style: 2 Strand/Bantu Knot Out

So, since my dreadlock removal, I have been playing with various ways to style my hair for work and in general. I knew 2 strand twists and bantu knots where one of the most simple and prettiest styles I could try.

With Thanksgiving approaching tomorrow, I knew I wanted to concentrate more on cooking up a storm than if my hair looks presentable or not. I mean, we all want to look great for the holiday parties and such, but I’d hope good-tasting food is a little more important!

Nonetheless, I decided to do a twist/knot out on my dry 4c hair. I did not bother putting too much product in my hair, since I did that the day before. Additionally, I flat ironed my hair earlier in the week as well so it was easy to part and separate.

And you may be asking what is a 2 strand/bantu knot out anyway?! Simple! It’s simply putting 2 strand twists in your hair and then twisting those 2 strand twits into bantu knots.

Again, this is on Dry, straighten hair.

Then, I wrapped my hair for the night and woke up the next morning and took the twists down carefully. And this is the ending product (with a little makeup of course!)

I used Cantu Shea Butter Repair as a leave-in conditioner and Shea Moisture’s Curling Souffle to hold the curls in. Again, I used this in moderation since I tried this style the day before.

So, just to recap the steps I did:

  1. Washed, conditioned, dried and flat ironed over the weekend.
  2. Used the two mentioned products above to do the twists and knots.
  3. Wrapped hair in a satin bonnet and went to bed
  4. Untwisted the next day.

Check this video out of another natural doing a similar process I did to get her curls too. Her hair looks lovely!

If you want to preserve this look for a longer time, keep the knots in your hair for a longer amount of time and remember to undo the knots with oil to reduce frizz. And always remember your satin bonnet and/or satin pillow cases.

I love it. I think I will make it my go-to hair style for special events and occasions!
