3 SIMPLE WAYS TO REDUCE STRESS, ANXIETY, & OVERWHELM

So much to do and such little time… Sound familiar?

When your mind starts going a mile a minute and all your to-do’s back up, stress and anxiety begin to build up. That is when overwhelm sets in and the train of life is derailed.  Just when you thought you had it all under control.  Well, I will tell you that you are not alone.  It happens to the best of us.

It’s no doubt that life can be stressful at times. Sometimes to the point where you feel so overwhelmed you just make yourself sick. How you handle these stressful times will either make or continue to break you. The key is balance.

There are many ways to reduce stress and find balance in your life. It’s just a matter of finding what works best for you. The following are the top 3 ways I found works best for me and has allowed me to find balance in my life. Give them a try and see how you too can do the same.

3 effective ways to reduce stress, anxiety, and overwhelm

One – Get outdoors and connect with nature

Allowing yourself to get out and breath the fresh air whether it’s walking, hiking, biking or whatever activity you enjoy doing outdoors is a great way to keep stress, anxiety and overwhelm from consuming your life. When you connect with nature you allow yourself to get in touch with the beauty that surrounds you and lies within you. In turn, you release the stress, reduce anxiety and give yourself a chance to start over without the overwhelming feeling.

Two – Be present and express gratitude

Go for a walk, meditate and release all negative thoughts. Think about the things that you are most grateful for here and now; your family, your friends, your kids, a roof over your head, and anything that makes you smile or lights you up. There is always something to be grateful for. When you are present and reflect gratitude on all the positive things in your life, you leave no room in your mind to think about the negative things that are sucking the living life out of you and draining your energy.

Three – Pay it forward

Paying it forward doesn’t have to be in monetary form. It could be as simple as giving someone a compliment or exchanging a smile. Do something that will brighten someone else’s day. A kind gesture goes a long way. What may seem like nothing to you, may be a big deal for someone else. Practicing random acts of kindness every day, will allow you to redirect your thoughts of angst and focus on all the positive things in life versus the negative. Doing this will start to shift stress, anxiety and overwhelm away from you rather than towards you.

Keep in mind, you control what goes in and out of your life by form of thoughts or elements that weigh you down such as stress and anxiety. Remove from your life what no longer serves you. This may include people, places or things. Doing this will also help relieve unnecessary stress and anxiety.

In addition to the 3 ways I’ve shared with you for relieving these negative elements in your life, practice changing your thoughts and taking positive action towards things that inspire you and lift you up. Surround yourself with a strong support system. When you do this, you begin to change your life in a positive way. Before you know it, you’ll be on your way to creating a life well-balanced and stress free.

So if keeping your life from being consumed in a negative way is what you truly desire, you must be willing to do whatever it takes to make change happen and create positive outcomes. There’s no better time than the present to start making changes towards a healthful, positive lifestyle.
