Kendra Jones is a brilliant artist, spoken word performer, painter, photographer, and is also the creator of Truly Free Creations, a brand of handcrafted jewelry inspired by her own free-flowing creativity. Jones’ jewelry is unique and rustic, conjuring up images of authenticity and imagination. The Truly Free Creations website states:
“My pieces are organic, sultry, earthy and stylish. Earth’s riches inspire each piece of art: music, culture and nature. I am able to incorporate lines, colors, stones, and metal into pieces that speak volumes about my true essence as an artist.”
Jones initially started making jewelry for herself before she launched her own business. She said that when she first tried to make jewelry pieces, “it was horrible.” She walked away from it and tried it again two weeks later, and produced some impressive pieces. When she made her own jewelry, her friends would comment on how great it looked. She said she sold “23 pairs of earrings in 2 days” and realized her potential.
As someone with natural hair, Jones knows just how to craft jewelry for women who want to enhance their natural beauty. She currently has long locs; however, her hair journey didn’t necessarily start out that way. She said she got her first perm when she was 10, and her hair “just fell out.” After that she went natural until she was in high school and felt the pressure “ to look like everyone else.” So, she ended up with a perm again; however, she felt a disconnect in her identity. With a perm she said, “I looked in the mirror; it wasn’t me anymore.” So, she ended up natural for good.
Jones states that she knows how to accessorize a natural look, and can even custom make jewelry for anyone who is interested. She said that if you want a particular piece designed for you, just fill out the custom order form online. You can also email and tell Jones what colors you want, and even provide pictures of your outfit [in the event you have a special occasion] and she will create a piece perfect for your look. She states, “I love custom orders.” It allows her to express her creativity while providing the customer with a unique experience.

Jones says, “I’m just an artist. I love what I do. I love to create beautiful pieces…and I’m proud I found this talent.”
